Some of our children attend Chaldon Pre-School before coming to St Peter and St Paul Infant School. Although it is next door to the school, it functions entirely independently. Please see the link below.
Due to the school's rural location with families coming from a wide area, children attend many different pre-school settings. It is common for these to number about 16! To counteract this, we work especially hard to ensure a smooth transition for our Reception children who make visits in groups in the Summer Term before they start and are also invited to a Teddy Bear's Picnic and the school's Sports Day.
In the Autumn Term that they start, they are visited at home by the Reception staff and join the school in groups over a week. They are also allocated a Year 2 'buddy' who helps them at lunch and in the playground if they need it. Feedback from parents indicates that this is successful and that the children soon feel very at home.
