At St Peter and St Paul, we believe that all children should have the opportunity to live healthy and active lives. We know that a positive experience of sport and physical activity at a young age can build a lifetime habit of participation as well as contribute to good physical and mental health.
There is significant research around the benefits of physical activity and its impact on physical health, as well as mental wellbeing. Children who are physically active are happier, more resilient and more trusting of their peers. Ensuring that pupils have access to sufficient daily activity also has wider benefits for pupils at school, improving behaviour as well as enhancing academic achievement.
The PE and sport premium is funding allocated to primary schools to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of the PE, physical activity and sport.
